It is based on the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8 module, which distinguishes itself with generous flash and PSRAM capacities, making it suitable for demanding projects such as AI, machine learning, and multimedia processing.

The N16R8 designation refers to the onboard memory configuration:

  • 16 MB (128 Mbit) SPI Flash: Used for program storage, firmware, and filesystem.
  • 8 MB (64 Mbit) PSRAM: Provides additional RAM for data buffering, large frame buffers, or complex AI/ML workloads.

This expanded memory is a significant upgrade over standard ESP32-S3 boards (often N8R2: 8 MB Flash, 2 MB PSRAM), enabling smoother operation for applications like high-resolution displays, voice recognition, and neural network inference.

Wireless communication comes as standard which includes Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi for diverse IoT applications. Like previous ESP32 boards, the ESP32-S3 operates on 3.3V logic. If you’re working with peripherals that use 5V logic, it’s recommended to use a 3.3-5V logic level converter. The ESP32-S3 is compatible with popular programming environments, including the Arduino IDE, PlatformIO, and MicroPython.

This board comes unsoldered but includes the headers.
